What must I do to be saved?

You may be thinking "I'm a good person....right?" The Bible says in Romans 3:23 says

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

and Romans 3:10 says

"As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one."

Also Romans 5:12 says,

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned–

From birth we have sin, and our sin makes us insufficient to meet God's standards.

You may be thinking, "Whats the big deal with sin anyways?" The Bible goes on to say in Romans 6:23,

"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The price of your sin is death. Not just a physical death but an eternal spiritual death in Hell.

God, out of his love, decided to send his son Jesus to pay the price for our sins. Romans 5:8 says it like this,

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

What an amazing gift God has given us! "So how do I get this gift?" you ask. Romans 10:9-10 says,

"if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

There are two things you have to do. You have to confess with your mouth (say it) AND believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins.

You might be wondering if God will answer your prayer or did he even hear your prayer? The bible gives us reassurance in Romans 10:13,

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Now that you have accepted Jesus in your heart, what do you do now? Romans 10:17 says,

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

In other words, you have to start reading the Bible. Reading the Bible daily is essential for your walk with Jesus. Finally, I encourage you to find a bible-believing church to attend. Another essential part of your walk with Jesus is gathering with other followers who can help guide you and build you up.
